Why coastal installs are different

A new system on the coast is not the same as one inland

Salt air corrodes standard aluminum fins on outdoor coils — sometimes within a few years of installation. Humidity loads in Panama City Beach run higher than most of the country, meaning the system runs longer hours and works harder to dehumidify than to simply cool. An AC that gets 15 years in Atlanta might see 8 or 9 here without the right specs and care.

Sizing matters just as much as equipment choice. An oversized system cools the air temperature quickly but does not run long enough to pull humidity out — you end up cold and clammy. One that's too small runs constantly and burns out faster. The load calculation takes windows, insulation, ceiling height, and sun exposure into account. We measure. We do not guess.

Rushed installs — wrong line set size, improper refrigerant charge, inadequate electrical — cut years off a system's life regardless of the brand on the label. We have been doing this on the Emerald Coast since 1979 and we know what the coast demands.

Everything in the price, nothing hidden

How it works

Quote, size, install, done

1

Free quote — we come to you

We visit your home, measure the conditioned space, check the ductwork, and assess the electrical. No remote quotes — we look before we price.

2

We size it for your house

Load calculation based on your actual space, not square footage alone. The right size runs efficiently and controls humidity the way a coastal home needs.

3

Installation scheduled — usually next business day

We carry common sizes on the truck. Most installs happen the next business day. If your system has completely failed, we move you up the schedule.

4

Clean install — drop cloths, full cleanup

We work inside your home like it is ours. Drop cloths on floors and furniture, all debris removed, old equipment hauled away.

5

System tested — you see it cooling before we leave

We verify refrigerant pressures, check airflow, and run a temperature difference test. You watch the system perform before we put away tools.

6

Written warranty paperwork in your hands

Labor warranty, manufacturer warranty details, and our contact information — all in writing, all yours before we leave the driveway.

Why Quincy's

What we do that most shops skip

📐

We size it right

Manual J when necessary — not a rule of thumb, not a guess. A correctly sized system lasts longer, costs less to run, and actually removes humidity. Oversizing is the most common installation mistake we see.

🌊

Coastal-rated as standard

Salt-tolerant coil options are quoted by default for homes near the water. We do not charge extra to mention it — we mention it because it matters for how long your system survives here.

📝

Clean install, full warranty

Drop cloths inside. Old equipment removed. Written labor warranty before we leave. We have been doing this for 47 years — the way we work has not changed because it has always worked.

Repair or replace?

When does a new install actually make sense?

We get this question every week. Here is the honest version.

Repair makes sense if: The unit is under 10 years old, the failed part is reasonable, refrigerant is still available for that system, and the rest of it is in decent shape.

Replacement makes sense if: The unit is over 10 years old, the compressor is failing, you are putting more than half the cost of a new system into repairs, your bills have crept up over the last few summers, or the system uses old R22 refrigerant.

We will tell you straight. If a $400 repair will buy you another three or four years, we will say so.

FAQs

New AC installation questions

How much does a new AC cost in Panama City Beach?

System cost depends on size, efficiency rating, brand, and what the installation requires — new refrigerant lines, electrical work, ductwork adjustments. Every quote is in writing after we measure your space. Call (850) 235-8834 or request a free in-home quote to get a real number.

How long does installation take?

Most residential replacements are completed in a single day — typically four to six hours for a straightforward swap. More involved installs that include ductwork modifications or electrical upgrades may require two days. We give you a timeline when we quote.

How soon can you install?

Next business day in most cases. We stock common system sizes and try to keep lead times short. If your system has completely failed, call us — we make every effort to prioritize no-AC situations.

Do I need a new thermostat?

Not always, but often we recommend it. Modern systems pair better with a communicating or programmable thermostat, and an old thermostat on a new system can reduce efficiency and cause problems. We assess yours during the quote visit.

What brands do you install?

We work with a range of reputable manufacturers and choose based on what fits your home, budget, and the demands of coastal Florida. We discuss options with you during the quote — we do not push a single brand.

How long will my new AC last in coastal Florida?

A properly sized, coastal-rated system that receives regular maintenance typically reaches 12 to 15 years in this climate. Systems installed without the right coil specs or that skip annual maintenance often fail at 8 to 10 years. The install and the maintenance schedule matter as much as the brand.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. Financing is available for qualified customers with multiple term options. Ask when you call or when we come out for the quote. We go over the terms so you understand exactly what you are committing to.

What size AC do I need?

Size is determined by a load calculation that accounts for square footage, insulation values, window area, ceiling height, and sun exposure. We run a Manual J calculation when necessary. A system that is too large short-cycles and leaves the home humid. One that is too small runs constantly and burns out early. We measure before we quote — we do not guess.
