In Panama City, almost certainly a heat pump. The overwhelming majority of Bay County homes heat with one — it is the same outdoor unit that cools the house in summer, running in reverse. If you have no gas service to the property, you do not have a gas furnace. When a heat pump stops heating, the system falls back on electric auxiliary heat strips, which keep the house warm at a much higher running cost.
