Quincy’s Heating & Air service fleet in Panama City Beach

In Panama City and Panama City Beach in 2026, most AC and heating repairs cost $150 to $650, a maintenance plan runs roughly $120 to $360 a year, and a full system replacement typically lands between $6,500 and $17,000 installed. Ductwork, insulation, air quality equipment and mini-splits each have their own ranges, and all of them are in the tables below.

These are typical Bay County market ranges, not a Quincy’s price list. Every Quincy’s job is quoted in writing for the house in front of us, after a flat trip charge you are told on the phone. The point of this guide is to let you walk into any quote, ours or anyone else’s, already knowing what normal looks like and which questions decide where in the range you land.

Service calls, trip charges and after-hours rates

Almost every repair starts with a fee to get a licensed technician and a stocked truck to your door and diagnose the system. Local companies that publish the number list $79 to $125 for a weekday visit, and across Florida the usual band is $65 to $150. After-hours, weekend and holiday calls cost more: published local after-hours diagnostics run around $205, and the national range for an emergency service fee is $150 to $350, with labor often billed at 1.5 to 2 times the weekday rate.

What to ask: is the fee flat, is it quoted before dispatch, and is it credited toward the repair or charged on top? Quincy’s charges a flat trip charge that you are told on the phone before anyone is sent, and the repair is then priced separately in writing. If the house is cooling and the complaint is a noise, we will tell you it can wait for a weekday rather than sell you an after-hours visit.

Heating and heat pump repair costs

Most Bay County homes heat with a heat pump, not a furnace, so the winter repair list looks different from what people expect. Florida price guides for 2026 put the heat-specific repairs here:

Typical heating repair costs, Florida 2026
RepairTypical rangeApplies to
Defrost control board or sensor$300 to $750Heat pumps; the iced-over outdoor unit
Reversing valve$500 to $1,400Heat pumps; refrigerant must be recovered and recharged
Auxiliary heat strip or sequencer$400 to $700Electric air handlers
Thermostat wiring or replacement$150 to $500All systems
Furnace ignitor$150 to $250Gas furnaces, a minority here
Furnace flame sensor$80 to $250Gas furnaces

Capacitors, contactors, motors and refrigerant leaks cost the same in January as in July, because it is the same equipment. One number matters more than any repair price in winter: electric backup strips cost two to three times as much to run as a working heat pump, so a failed heat pump that "still heats" shows up on the power bill first. Heating repair in Panama City and heating repair in Panama City Beach cover the faults.

Maintenance and tune-up costs

Most Florida homeowners pay $75 to $200 for a single tune-up, and annual maintenance plans run $120 to $360 nationally. Locally, advertised tune-ups start around $89 and plans range from about $170 to $300 a year. The spread is almost entirely about what is done on the visit.

Quincy’s plan is $292 a year for a single-system home. That is two full visits, spring and fall, with real coil cleaning, drain line treatment, a written report each visit and 10 percent off any repair. Ductless heads are covered the same way.

What to ask about any plan: is the outdoor coil actually washed or just looked at, is the drain line treated, do you get a written report, and how many visits is it? An $89 visit that checks pressures and leaves is not the same service as one that cleans the coil. On the coast, salt makes the coil rinse the part that matters most. New system and replacement costs

A complete, permitted replacement of the outdoor unit and the air handler typically costs $6,500 to $17,000 installed in Bay County in 2026. Most 1,500 to 2,000 square foot homes land between $8,000 and $13,500.

Typical installed cost by system size, 2026
SizeTypical homeInstalled range
1.5 ton600 to 900 sq ft$6,500 to $9,500
2 ton900 to 1,200 sq ft$7,000 to $10,500
2.5 ton1,200 to 1,500 sq ft$7,500 to $11,500
3 ton1,400 to 1,800 sq ft$8,000 to $12,500
3.5 ton1,700 to 2,100 sq ft$8,500 to $13,500
4 ton2,000 to 2,400 sq ft$9,500 to $15,000
5 ton2,400 to 3,000 sq ft$10,500 to $17,000

Three things move you inside a row:

A complete quote also includes the permit and inspection, a lineset flush or replacement, a level pad, resealed duct transitions and haul-away. When one bid is $4,000 under the others, something on that list has been removed. More in new AC cost in Panama City Beach and what SEER2 rating you need. Ductwork and insulation costs

Typical ductwork and insulation costs, 2026
WorkTypical rangeWhen it applies
Repair one damaged run$200 to $700One room that will not cool
Seal accessible joints$200 to $800Leaks at a few connections
Partial replacement, 1 to 3 runs$300 to $2,000Crushed or disconnected sections
Whole-system duct sealing$1,000 to $4,000Intact ducts leaking throughout
Full replacement, smaller single-story home$3,000 to $6,000Brittle or badly sized ducts
Full replacement, larger or two-story home$6,000 to $10,000+More runs, harder access
Blown-in attic insulation$1.00 to $2.50 per sq ftAbout $840 to $1,500 per 1,000 sq ft to reach R-38

No honest ductwork price exists before someone has been in the attic. A hot bedroom is usually a $200 to $700 repair, not a $6,000 replacement, and the only way to know is to look. In older Panama City neighborhoods and anything rebuilt after 2018, expect the inspection to find something. Indoor air quality and humidity costs

Typical indoor air quality costs, 2026
ItemTypical installed rangeWhat it is for
Better filter$15 to $80Dust; the first step
Media filter cabinet$230 to $500Deeper filter that does not choke airflow
Coil cleaning and drain service$150 to $400Musty smells, poor dehumidification
UV light at the coil$400 to $800Keeps growth off a wet coil; bulbs are a recurring cost
In-duct air purifier$780 to $1,200Odors and stale air once the basics are handled
Fresh-air ventilation$800 to $2,500Tight houses with stale air
Whole-home dehumidifier$1,500 to $4,500High moisture load with a correctly working system

The cheapest row that fixes the problem is the right one. In Bay County the sticky-at-74 complaint is usually an oversized system, a dirty coil or leaking return ducts, and a $150 to $400 cleaning or a duct seal fixes what a $3,000 dehumidifier would only mask. Quincy’s does not publish flat prices for this equipment because the recommendation depends on what the system check finds. Dehumidifier versus AC · air quality in Panama City · Panama City Beach.

How to compare quotes, and when to repair or replace

Comparing quotes. Put them side by side and check that each names the tonnage, the model numbers, the SEER2 rating, the permit, what happens to the lineset and the ducts, and the labor warranty. Two quotes $4,000 apart for "a 3 ton system" are usually two different jobs. Be wary of a price quoted without seeing the house, a diagnostic that is free only if you buy today, and a refrigerant top-off with no leak search.

Repair or replace. Under about $650 on a system under 12 years old, repair it. Over $1,000 on a system over 12 years old, get a replacement number before you approve the repair. A failed compressor or a leaking coil on an R-22 system is almost never worth fixing; a capacitor, contactor, motor or drain problem almost always is, even at 15 years. When to replace your AC has the worked examples.

Paying for it. Financing is available through Synchrony for qualified customers, subject to credit approval. Read the terms on any deferred-interest promotion: if the balance is not cleared in time, interest is charged back to day one. HVAC financing in Florida · financing options.

Where these numbers come from

Repair, replacement, ductwork and mini-split ranges are the Bay County market ranges Quincy’s already publishes in its cost guides, based on 47 years of quoting work here. Service call, tune-up, heating repair, insulation and air quality ranges were checked in October 2026 against published local pricing and current national and Florida cost guides, including HomeGuide on tune-ups, HomeGuide on HVAC repair, Angi on whole-house dehumidifiers and Angi on blown-in insulation. They are ranges, they move with equipment and refrigerant costs, and none of them is a quote. The only firm prices on this page are Quincy’s own: $292 a year for the maintenance plan and 10 percent off repairs for plan members.

Panama City questions we hear about this

How much does an HVAC service call cost in Panama City?

How much does AC repair cost in Panama City Beach?

Most AC repairs cost $150 to $650 with parts and labor. Capacitors and contactors run $150 to $400, fan and blower motors $350 to $1,100, and refrigerant leak repairs $400 to $1,600 plus refrigerant. Compressors and evaporator coils run $1,200 to $3,500 and should be compared against replacement.

How much is a new AC system in Panama City in 2026?

A complete, permitted replacement typically costs $6,500 to $17,000 installed depending on tonnage and efficiency. Most 1,500 to 2,000 square foot homes land between $8,000 and $13,500, and a 3 ton system typically runs $8,000 to $12,500.

What does an AC maintenance plan cost?

Single tune-ups run $75 to $200 in Florida and annual plans $120 to $360. Quincy’s plan is $292 a year for a single-system home and includes two full visits with coil cleaning, drain line treatment, a written report and 10 percent off repairs.

How much does ductwork cost to repair or replace?

Repairing one damaged run is typically $200 to $700 and sealing accessible joints $200 to $800. Whole-system sealing runs $1,000 to $4,000, and a full duct replacement $3,000 to $10,000 or more depending on home size and attic access. An attic inspection comes before any honest price.

How much does a mini-split cost in Bay County?

Is there still a federal tax credit for a new heat pump?

No. The federal 25C energy efficiency credit ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. Utility rebates and manufacturer promotions are separate and change through the year, so check what is current and confirm anything tax-related with a tax professional.

Why are two quotes for the same job thousands of dollars apart?

They are rarely the same job. Check each quote for tonnage, model numbers, SEER2 rating, the permit, lineset work, duct transitions, haul-away and the labor warranty. When one bid is far lower, one or more of those items is usually missing.
